GSS Feeding program.jpg

On October 29, 2019, BBC Africa reported that the Red Cross is warning of “catastrophic” food insecurity due to drought in Zambia if no action is taken. Joseph and Maggie Chikumbi are struggling to feed the students at Good Samaritan School since the price of mealie meal (ground maize which is used to make the Zambian staple nshima) has almost doubled this year (from 80 kwacha to 150). They feed at least 400 students every school day and for some of the students, this is their only meal.

PETs needed

Personal Energy Transportation carts were first distributed in Kazembe in 2010 by HFTW and changed lives by providing mobility to people with disabilities. More carts are badly needed at this time. The carts are available at no cost but transportation expenses from Kitwe to Kazembe must be covered.
